SIFE at Folsom Lake College began in Spring 2002 with the General Motors Marketing Internship (GMMI). Students worked with a local Chevrolet dealership to market their thriving business. Within a few short weeks, a small group of students formed the SIFE team, and quickly began preparing for the upcoming regional competition in Universal City , California . Students returned with a Rookie of the Year award that year. The program continued in the fall, and students started actively working on projects for the next regional competition. In 2003, the team traveled to Kansas City and was awarded First Place in the nation for the prestigious Kaufman Foundation Entrepreneurship competition, earning a cash prize of $3,000. The following year at regional competition the SIFE team placed 2nd in their region and brought home a trophy. The team has grown to more than 20 members, and continues to work hard in teaching free enterprise education in their community and around the world. Currently the team finished with a first runner-up award at regional competition in Hollywood, CA. The team traveled to the SIFE National Exposition in Philadelphia, PA, to participate in a career fair and observe the national award winning teams.
